Miho Wada is a well
established Afro Cuban Flute player from Japan /
New Zealand who spends much of her time touring all
over the world.
Miho's latest project, blending traditional Japanese music and contemporary New Zealand sounds together in a cutting edge style. CHIQ’s members are highly accomplished musicians and are experienced performers having toured around the world playing many genres of music.
Their repertoire is mostly co-written by Miho Wada and Colin Hunter, but also contains significant improvisation, which creates a dynamic energy flow and a divine atmosphere. Miho’s haunting flute melodies accompanied on marimba played by Takumi Motokawa (of Strike Percussion) bring out the sensitive Japanese flavor.
Miho’s unique musical ideas are heavily influenced by J-Pop, Rock, Salsa, el Son, Afro Cuban and Classical Music. Combined with Colin's experimental and free Jazz background they present a whole new brand of sounds to the World Music scene.
