A lush antidote to all your societal woes, Tama Waipara brings to you the long lost Polynesian cousin of Sergeant Pepper; Sir Plus and The Requirements.

This marks a new direction for Tama Waipara, who has been known for his beautiful collaborations with top New Zealand musicians. Sir Plus and The Requirements is a jaunty lively and outrageous live show that Waipara has devised and developed on his own, it also ties in with the release of his first full-length album. Audiences can expect a real "bang for their buck” as Waipara brings back the live variety/cabaret show that is synonymous with the likes of Burt Bacharach and Kiwi icon Billy T James.

Imagine being left on an island with Prince Tui Teka, Kid Creole and Elvis Presley and you go some way to entering the world of Sir Plus. Raised on a mixture of 60's Brit pop, 50's Motown and fed the falsehoods of 80's New Zealand stereotypes, Sir Plus is a social avenger. Like Batman, he is a law unto himself, albeit with a slightly dented heart of gold. A balladeer gone bad.

This one-hour musical performance combining humour and theatrical narrative is fresh and defiant. And Tama is joined by a talented four-piece band, alongside three gorgeous back-up singers. With lighting design by Jeremy Fern, set design by John Verryt and costumes by Lindah Lepou, we are transported to a world where the only agenda is that you enjoy yourself.

The brainchild of singer/songwriter Tama Waipara, Sir Plus and The Requirements comes hot on the heels of his sold out show at AK07 and cements his return to NZ after 8 years in New York. After releasing Leaving Paradise in 2007, which featured the likes of Nathan Haines and Godfrey De Grut, this show is an exclusive introduction to the exciting release of Tama's new album, Sir Plus and The Requirements which has been produced by Justyn Pilbrow (Elemeno P).

Full of sparkle, pizzazz, humour and amazing tunes, the show also embraces political and social issues; Sir Plus and The Requirements is a musical hangi with quite a few extra spices thrown in.
