Time Out New York
Tama Waipara is a multi instrumentalist who trained at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York. His debut album Triumph of Time was released with New York label ObliqSound and premiered at the famous Central Park Summer Stage.
Tama returned to his homeland in New Zealand to release a further two albums Leaving Paradise and Sir Plus and The Requirements both of which have received critical acclaim. “Leaving Paradise” was recorded in Williamsburg and debuted in New Zealand at No #15 on the IMNZ charts.
Tama has collaborated with a multitude of respected international and New Zealand artists, the likes of drummer Kim Thompson, The Reel People (UK), Grammy nominated American artist Emily King, New Zealand Jazz giant Nathan Haines, Maori songstress Maisey Rika and renowned Pacific Diva, Annie Crummer.
